Workplace Connections Mentoring Program

Find an experienced mentor to help you as you look for work.

If you are looking for work in Canada and would like support to find a job then you might benefit from our Workplace Connections program.

Many newcomers to Canada attend employment programs offered by MOSAIC and other community agencies. These programs offer a wealth of information about labour markets, job search skills and training. The Workplace Connections program is designed to complement these programs with one-on-one support from a volunteer mentor.

Volunteer mentors can help you learn about Canadian workplace culture, build your professional networks, improve your professional English skills, practice your self-marketing techniques and identify potential employers.

We will match you with a volunteer mentor for three months. Newcomers and their mentors usually meet once a week for two hours. You and your mentor can decide what to do and when to meet together.

We encourage you to come to our monthly "Working Sessions"which are held at our Commercial Drive office. These meetings provide a great opportunity to share stories, practise your job search skills and have fun with other program participants. Recent session topics include "My First Canadian Job", "Social Networking" and "Going Up? Preparing an Elevator Speech".

You can join the program if you have at least ELSA Level 4, have a clear employment goal and are actively seeking work. If you do not meet these requirements, you are welcome to contact us as you may still be eligible.
