CONFLICT MANAGEMENT SKILLS WORKSHOP

WorkSafeBC GETS RAVE REVIEWS FROM IMMIGRANT PROFESSIONALS

More than 30 immigrants looking for work attended MOSAIC's presentation by WorkSafeBC. Tim Lee, a Senior Recruiter from WorkSafeBC, shared valuable tips on the hiring process at his organization. Some of the comments were "excellent" information was presented in an "intensely engaging way... I benefitted a lot from it.... It really makes you think about future steps to take."

IMMIGRANTS GRADUATE WITH NEW JOB SEARCH SKILLS

An enthusiastic group of newcomers has just finished MOSAIC's Career Connections program. Over the course of four weeks, they explored various career options and picked up valuable tips on how to search for work in Canada. The newcomers are pursuing careers in health care, construction, IT and food sciences. One of the participants said "MOSAIC is a place to help new immigrants back to the workplace... It is helpful for me to understand the situation in Canada."

Every Friday, look for MOSAIC's Tip of the Week to support your successful job search.  It is on the Looking for Work page where you can also find information about programs and services that will help you reach your career and employment goals.

WORKPLACE CONNECTIONS MENTORING PROGRAM A GREAT SUCCESS

An article highlighting the success of our Workplace Connections mentoring program for newcomers was recently published on HRVoice, an online human resources magazine. This program finds volunteer mentors for new immigrants seeking work and has helped over 90 newcomers since it began in September 2008.

LONGER HOURS AT JOB SEARCH CENTRE

Immigrants will now be able to use job search resources until 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays at MOSAIC's Broadway and Commercial location. Services include:

  • Advice on the best way to plan your career and find a job
  • One-One job search support
  • Access to computers, faxes, photocopiers, job postings and information on the job market

MOSAIC'S Employment Resource Centre for Immigrants is at  312 - 2555 Commercial Drive. It's now open on Thursdays from 8:45 to 6:30 p.m.

FREE INFORMATION SESSIONS EVERY TUESDAY

Need help looking for a job or qualifying for work in your field? If you've been in Canada for five years or less and have at least intermediate English language skills, find out about the Skills Connect for Immigrants program at one of MOSAIC's Information Sessions. 
 
We hold Information Sessions at 1522 Commercial Drive in Vancouver every Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. and on the North Shore, the last Tuesday of every month. All you have to do is call Candice at 604 254 0244 ext 287 to register. For more details on Skills Connect, click here.
