Settlement Online Pre-Arrival (SOPA) Team

Meet our team

Dina Cherevko
Coordinator/Facilitator (Job Search Strategies)

Dina was instrumental in establishing MOSAIC’s SOPA program, leading the trial phase in early 2015. An immigrant to Canada herself (she and her young family moved from Russia in 2009) Dina understands and appreciates the challenges facing immigrants in the 21st century. Prior to joining MOSAIC, she worked in a variety of capacities within other non-profits including RMCS and SUCCESS. Dina is excited to be a part of the national SOPA team and passionate about supporting clients during their settlement and job search process in Canada. She lives in Port Coquitlam,  British Columbia with her husband and three children, and completed a degree in Education in Russia and a Community Counselling Program at Vancouver Community College.

Soraya Etminan
Facilitator (Job Search Strategies)

Soraya has completed a degree in general sciences and a certificate as a Career Development Practitioner. She came to MOSAIC with a teaching background and has been an integral part of the organization for more than 15 years. Soraya has spent a great deal of time refining her skills as a career planner; she has attended several workshops and completed an array of additional training in order to ensure each client receives the best possible support. Soraya is thrilled to be part of the SOPA team; she relishes the opportunity to assist immigrants during their period of transition and adjustment in beautiful British Columbia. In her spare time, you will find Soraya either relaxing with her family or in the kitchen cooking or baking a fantastic dish.

Linda Ragoonanan
Facilitator (Job Search Strategies)

Linda immigrated to Canada over 20 years ago and after moving around with several companies hoping to find her niche, she went back to school and completed several courses including a Career Development Practitioner Program at Simon Fraser University and Douglas College. She worked with a Tourism and Hospitality Program as an Intake Counsellor before joining MOSAIC as an Employment Counsellor with (SCIP). She has worked with a number of clients from different employment backgrounds and was successful in placing pharmacists, registered nurses, human resource managers and doctors into their professions here in Canada. This is definitely one of the most satisfying jobs of her career and she is very excited to be part of the SOPA team.

Melissa Chungfat
Facilitator (Professional Communication and Working with Others)

Melissa has a 12-year career working in a variety of communication roles for companies, non-profits, and post-secondary institutions. She is passionate about training people with the skills needed to succeed and become independent in their personal and professional goals, which is why she is excited to work with people to develop their communication skills through SOPA. After working for a decade, she wanted to take the time to immerse herself in completely different cultures and spent time volunteering, working, and traveling in Southeast Asia for two and a half years. Outside of work she loves riding motorcycles, hosting cooking parties, and finding outdoor adventures.

Anisha Sahota
Intake Counselor

Social justice has been at the core of Anisha’s personal and academic experience. Her educational background (a bachelor’s degree in English with a double minor in Criminology and Sociology) has instilled in her a passion for social advocacy and outreach initiatives. As the daughter of first-generation immigrants, the immigrant experience lies close to her heart. Anisha is excited to be working with the SOPA team and to be using her knowledge and experience to assist new immigrants with their settlement in British Columbia. Born and raised on the west coast of Canada, British Columbia, Anisha is proud to call Vancouver her home. In her spare time, you can find her reading, writing, or spending time with her family and friends.
