Client Story:

Saleem had been living in Canada for two years, upgrading his English skills prior to his meeting with a MOSAIC Case Manager in April 2007. Saleem had advanced English language skills in addition to being multilingual (four languages). He also had a diploma in hotel management from his home country, computer and administrative skills. His previous work experience in the retail, financial and accommodation sectors had led him to seek entry-level work in retail.

Saleem lacked confidence in his job search skills and needed support. Saleem was referred to a job search support program in May 2007, where he developed the necessary skills and increased his self-confidence. As part of the program, he attended a job fair where the employer was seeking to hire entry-level staff. The employer was impressed by his skills, abilities and self-confidence, and he was hired as a full-time store coordinator (administrative role) at $13.00 per hour in June 2007.
