Client Story:

Maria met with a MOSAIC Case Manager in January 2007. An assessment of her needs uncovered that although Maria had advanced English language skills and a background in Curriculum Development (from her home country and a Canadian University at the MEd Level) she was lacking an effective resume, job search skills and direction.

She was referred to an Employment Resource Centre that provided access to resources within the community. With support from her Case Manager it was also determined that she needed one-to-one job search support and she was referred to MOSAIC’s 1-1 Job Search Support Program. Working closely with her 1-1 Employment Counsellor, Maria worked on her job search skills and developed a resume and cover letter which caught the attention of a prospective employer. In March 2007, Maria landed a two-month contract position with the employer at $6,000 in her area of expertise, Curriculum Development.
